Fleet Week

Almost every Memorial Day weekend, I go to Fleet Week. In this year, USS New York was the biggest attraction because it was built with WTC steel. I got a super cute sailor as a guide, showing me inside of the ship.

To me, as a Japanese, it is the tradition to enjoy the beauty of Cherry blossom every year. Cherry blossom is often used as a metaphor for “woman’s beauty”…in other words, the beautiful time is very short. Cherry blossom always reminds me of the poem by Fumiko Hayashi.
| Life of flower is short Women’s life is only lots of pain |
花の命は短くて苦しきことのみ多かりき
It was 1940′s. Nowadays, the life of flower (woman) is longer and we can bloom anytime we want regardless of age!
