Love the way you lie

April 11th 2011

The issue of the crippled nuclear power plant in Japan still bothers me. We don’t know what the truth is. Japan has been a victim for a while, and they got so much sympathy and supports from all over the world. But since the nuclear power plant problems was on news, they are like a leaper in the world. After the radioactive dumping in the ocean, they are called murderers! No one doesn’t want any foods from Japan. No one doesn’t want to go there. Guess what? It’s all because of TEPCO and government that haven’t told the truth about nukes since the beginning of nukes in Japan. They have been saying nukes are “safe, clean, and cheap” for 60 years, and still saying it! Duh! Really? The funny thing is some info about the crippled nuke I can get here in the US can’t be broadcasted and published in Japan! Media have been manipulated by government. People have been manipulated by media. So people can feel better, and continue their lives. After all “ignorance is bliss”?

Not all are ignorance. Many Japanese have been questioning the existence of nukes in Japan. Others call for alternate power supply. Or, blaming TEPCO, exposing the company’s stupidity, protesting, a signature-collecting campaign, blaming government, and so on. For the record, ironically, the nuclear power supply has played a great part of Japan’s economic growth and high standard living. They might need it, but they don’t want it. They don’t want it, but they want to keep the comfortable and convenient life style that requires a lot of electricity. Their love/hate relationship will continue….

Perhaps for this reason, “Love the way you lie” by Eminem featuring Rihanna hit my head. (assume everyone knows the song)

Just gonna stand there and watch me burn

but that’s all right because I like the way it hurts

just gonna stand there and hear me cry

but that’s all right because I love the way you lie

I love the way you lie

I look up when I walk 上を向いて歩こう

April 5th 2011

It’s been almost a month after the disaster in Japan. The world is so distracted by the nuclear power plant and economic impact issues now. It is understandable. But I got very disturbing heart wrenching unpublished news about over there… suicide. Some lost everything and everybody, and they lost reason to live too…. In order to prevent the ripple effect, people are making desperate efforts of psychological support now.

Perhaps for this reason, “Sukiyaki” song hit my head. The song tells the story of a man who looks up and whistles while he is walking so that his tears won’t fall. In 1963, the song was #1 chart in the US, and it is the only Japanese song to do so. The singer of the song, Kyu Sakamoto, died in the plane clash.

I look up as I walk…So that the tears won’t fall

Happiness lies beyond the clouds…Happiness lies up above the sky

But I am all alone tonight
